Last minute getaways are always the best, right?! And this trip surely did not disappoint. I booked a ticket on Thursday, hopped on a plane early the next morning, and arrived in Puerto Rico, Friday in the early afternoon for a long weekend. Pulling up to the Condado Vanderbilt Hotel in San Juan…it quickly became apparent this was the perfect destination for luxury and relaxation.

As the foyer doors open, you are greeted with chilled champagne and transported into a unique, historic, and one-of-a kind experience. The magnificent Spanish Revival architecture combined with lavish interiors, red and pink tones, and the prettiest winding staircase is just half of this hotel’s charm. Views of the gorgeous pools and shimmering sea are visible throughout the entire property.  From the time you enter into the lobby and get a glimpse of the vibrant blue water glistening in the distance, to the suite/room balcony overlooking the water (if you opt for that), and the most gorgeous infinity pools…every view is so spectacular.

The resort prides itself on unsurpassed service and luxury, and those employed by the Condado Vanderbilt really live up to that expectation. The service in every regard was fantastic and everyone was so polite and attentive. I had the pleasure of staying in a gorgeous suite with a butler service and one afternoon, after a day at the pool I came back to my room and a pleasant surprise. The staff had sent up a bottle of champagne along with a personalized card with the Instagram image I had posted earlier that day. It was so sweet and thoughtful! It is the little things like that, that make me want to visit a place again and again.

This trip was pretty short, low-key and relaxing…so every day was pretty much spent by the pool (no complaints about that!) However, I do wish there was a little more time to do a few things. Next time around I will definitely be visiting the rainforest (it is about a half-of-a day) and the Bioluminescent Bay kayak adventure, where everything lights up underneath you. Look it up! It looks so awesome.

Two things I did get to do while in Puerto Rico that I most DEFINITELY recommend you do if you get the chance to visit are:

 1. Explore Old San Juan- The colorful, colonial section of the island full of cobblestone streets, pastel buildings, shops and restaurants

2. Eat at the restaurant Marmalade- It was closing for renovations the next day after I went and I am SO happy I had the chance to go. It is known for being one of the best restaurants in Puerto Rico. I am not a foodie at all and I ate every last bite of everything. I cannot begin to explain how good!! Definitely one of the best meals I have ever had.

Have you ever been to Puerto Rico? Would love to hear about your trip and experience.

I cannot wait to visit again!
